"Iraq Combat Veterans Use Social Media To Fight PTSD & Moral Injury"
Website Purpose*Please be patient as this site becomes updated and fine tuned. I have been doing the work with no support and have little web experience.
My name is Lu Lobello. I am an 8 year Marine Corps combat veteran, a Sociologist and soon to be Lawyer. I have been diagnosed with severe PTSD and Moral Injury. During my time in the Marine Corps I had the honor of serving with Fox Company 2/23, aka "The Sinners and The Saints." During our deployment to Iraq in 2003 my unit served with honor, courage and commitment. We were one of the first units to enter Baghdad. During an urban patrol our unit was ambushed and in the ensuing firefight one of our Marines was shot through the head, 13 were wounded and many civilians were either killed or wounded. The day was April 8th 2003. Since that day I have strived to come to terms with what life after war means. Five years ago I set out on one final mission--to find the Kachadoorians. They were one of the Iraqi families caught in the crossfire of our firefight. Last year I was fortunate enough to not only find the family but to meet them. Since then we have become family. This website is dedicated to the Marines I served with and the Kachadoorian family. I hope the lessons I learned in the last decade of my life can be used to better the lives of all veterans as well as non-combatants affected by warfare. I have developed my own theories of PTSD, Moral Injury and Veterans Activism. Below is a synopsis of what each of the tabs up top contain.
